The sketch called The Typewriter was done to a Leroy Anderson Composition called "The Typewriter" the actual sketch was performed originally on one of the old Colgate Comedy Hour Programs of the late 50’s early 60’s shortly after the Martin/Lewis split. I have a copy of this sketch on video tape when The Family Channel aired a five part special on Martin and Lewis and featured this sketch in it’s entirety. I also have an mp3 file of the original Leroy Anderson Recording. The sketch is also featured in a featurette prior to the opening of "Who’s Minding The Store." Lewis also performed this sketch at the Montreal Comedy Festival in I beleive 1998 or 1999 when he received the Lifetime Acheivment Award at the Festival. You can contact the Comedy Channel here in Canada to find out about a copy of this sketch.

I am preparing an exhibition for the 100 year history of Newark Beth Israel Hospital. As an inner city hospital, it needs all the support it can receive. I understand that Jerry Lewis was born at Beth Israel in Newark. I’d like to invite him to be our main speaker for the opening reception for the exhibition. How do I do this? jafrydad, I believe the skit you’re looking for can be found in "The Errand Boy." It’s toward the end of the movie. Count Basie, "Blues in Hoss Flat"

I am only 21 years old and I am a huge fan of Jerry Lewis. I grew up watching his films and think he is the best comedian, actor, and artist in general. I had just caught his biography on TV and if its possible, I repect and look up to him even more. I love Jerry Lewis and I am lucky to have experienced his magic.

To Karen Nichols: I know which sketch you mean. I was fortunate enough to see it live. It was great. I have never seen it on film however, and it might not even exist. The best you can hope for is someone who videotaped the show and put it on the internet, in which case the quality would suck. Sorry.

I’m really pleased to have found this board...hoping that SOMEONE will be able to help!! I’m looking for the "Typewriter Sketch" on some kind of video file. It’s one of the cleverest visual comedy pieces that I think I’ve ever seen and would LOVE to have it! For those that don’t know what I’m talking about, Jerry is seated onstage in front of a typewriter...which he "plays" in time to a piece of music (sorry, can’t think for the life of me what the music’s called right now!). That’s IT! Very simple, but utter genious. It MUST be SOMEWHERE on the internet??? I know I’ve looked all over, but can’t find it...if anyone knows where I could get it, I’d be SO grateful! Cheers :o)
