Holtzman tells it like it is and if someone from the audience is brave
enough to disagree, they're greeted with an outpouring of unbridled
rage.I berate hecklers without mercy, Holtzman confesses. It has become
a central part of his act, along with his unique perspective on the
nonsense of everyday life. His growing following of fans have labeled
him as absolutely brilliant and a true original.
I saw Brian last night (9/15/05) at the Comedy Store and my inclination is to simply say he sucked, but that word gets thrown around so much that it wouldn’t accurately express how I feel. Just let me say that not only was he unfunny, but unpleasant to the point of being disturbing. I heard that a lot of people think he’s talented. If so, then he seemed to give up too soon and just started saying things that weren’t even jokes let alone funny. They went something like this: "baseball fucking sucks. It’s so fucking stupid. If you like baseball, just fucking kill yourself right now". If those were actually supposed to be a jokes, then he’ll have a nearly infinite supply of material. He’ll just needs to replace "baseball" with the noun of his choice. When a comedian steps on stage, most people are rooting for them to be funny and are willing to be patient. I think last night, he gave up on himself before the audience did.

Brian Holtzman is another undiscovered comedy gem. I saw him at the Comedy Store yelling at hecklers and it was absolutly hysterical. He just needs to town it down to get more TV work. I would say his style is a mix between Sam Kinison and Jonathan Winters. I would put him in the league of other undiscovered brilliant comedians like Mitch Hedburg and the outrageous Jeff Duran.
