Marc is an innovator. His humor is ground breaking and uproariously
funny. He plays to sold out crowds all over the country and has made
several appearances on Late Night With David Letterman. His on man shoe,
Jerusalem Syndrome played to rave reviews in New York.

I take anti-depressants myself and I thought everything was fine in Marc’s show.

Following is an e-mail sent to HBO regarding Marc Maron. His comedic content is not simply controversial it is harmful to humanity. December 6, 2002: Your Marc Maron comedy show is an absolute disgrace and a threat to humanity! His comments on those needing medication like Prozac are inhumane. He says "it’s fucking weird if someone takes a drug to feel better all the time". He went on to say he spoke to this girl before she took Prozac and said "everything sucks, life sucks, her boyfriend sucks" etc. Then 2 weeks later he calls and she says "everything is fine" and when he asks her what she’s doing she says "arranging flowers". I realize HBO must get many e-mails from groups/people who are offended by certain comedians, I can actually can empathize with some of the unmerited backlash that television stations endure, but this comedic act merits HBO to take a closer look and try to repair some of the damage it has placed on its viewership society. I am also sure for legal purposes there is a disclaimer somewhere that states that the views of these comedians are not reflective of HBO’s views, BUT this comedic act is a threat to humanity! I ask HBO to (1) stop televising Mr. Maron’s act (2) televise a retraction and (3) take some proceeds to advocate for the mentally ill. Mr. Maron’s act threatens people who biologically and emotionally need drugs like these to survive; as medications like Prozac help regulate actual physical chemical imbalances in peoples systems. Mr. Maron’s comedic routine is like busting on people who seek chemotherapy to help cure their cancer. He’s not poking fun of those who have to endure chemotherapy or in this case the need to take Prozac, he is saying there is no need for Prozac! Mr. Maron’s act therefore provokes the continuation of the debilitating societal disease of depression and other mental illnesses that effects and kills millions. He provokes this devestating disease because of the false stigma that he encourages. His lines suggest that the disease doesn’t even exist which will propell sufferers deeper in to dispear and in many times could end up in suicide. So HBO I eagerly wait your reply. In the meantime I will be educating other advocates of the mentally ill about Mr. Maron’s show on your station. Thank you for your time. Peace.
