Phil was one of the greatest sketch performers that ever graced the airwaves. From his early success with the Groundlings to his work on Pee Wee's Playhouse, to his groundbreaking work on Saturday Night Live, Phil always gave 200 percent. He left us too early, but his comedic genius will be with us forever.

Last night I saw one of my absolute favorite Phil Hartman characters...her name was Susan...the deranged Swiss Miss character that was on the Sprockets Dating Game. Susan’s response regarding a perfect first date was....."first I knock you to the ground...pee on you while chanting House on Fire...House on Fire...put it out. Then I force you to drink antifreeze until you pass out. Then you wake up in the morning in excruciating pain with a size seven poop shoot." Phil Hartman was completely deadpan in his delivery...how he kept a straight face was beyond me. I was on the floor laughing.

Phil Hartman was a legend, and the closest thing to a god. His work was envied by most, and wanted by many. From The Simpsons, SNL, and News Radio - Phil was truly gifted in his profession. May he rest in peace.

Phil Hartman was the Silly Putty of comedy. He could imitate anyone, become anything, put forth any energy required. I miss him greatly.

Phil Hartman was an amazing comedian who’s untimely death was a blow to the trade of comedy itself. The man could play a real good jerk, even when you knew deep down inside he was a big teddy bear. His talent should never be forgotten, his legacy should live on, and as long as we always have the works of such dearly missed comics as Phil, then we will never truly lose them.

Why is we celebrate a birth and mourn a death? Because we aren’t the person involved. Mark Twain Happy trails anal retentive cowboy.

Dear Phil: You brought us so much joy for so long. The thing is, you will continue to do so. Mark my words, when the humor of other performers is no longer funny, because of the inevitable changes in societies over the generations, Phil Hartman will always bring a smile.

Long before Phil died, I was a loud, probably obnoxious, advocate for him. I’ve felt for years and years that Phil was the most gifted, least appreciated comedian in our generation. I’d marvel at the talent that POURED from him - not just once in a while, but every time he performed, or even had a conversation with folks like Larry King. I cried like a baby when he was killed. I still cry sometimes when I’m watching ’News Radio’ re-runs. I don’t think I’ll ever get over it. I miss him. He had so much more to give. Well, who said life is fair...

The first I had heard of Phil Hartman was on SNL-what a cool guy with such vitality, versatility and good humor. I understand that Phil and Chris Farley were good pals. I miss them both dearly and wish they never had to leave us so soon. What a loss. I love you guys.
