Yes, that's his real name. He didn't change it for show-biz. Perhaps the greatest Jewish storyteller in history. He talked slowly, but always had audiences on the edge of their seats. He was a favorite in the Borscht Belt and on the Ed Sullivan Show.
My Mother who passed away recently just loved Myron Cohen’s humor. I never even imagined that it would have been possible to get any of his stuff on recorded vehicle. Altho I have wondered about that HBO Special a long time ago. I guess they would be the way to go. I have often found HBO Specials on clearance tables at Blockbuster etc., Jackie Mason, Vernon, Leonard, Gayle for instance. Has anybody checked HBO out yet? Thanks, and keep laughing...

I have recently renewed my affection for Myron Cohen, and have taken advantage of the net to get me some. What I have found so far - in online auctions a lot of stuff cycles through: three LPs:"Everybody Gotta Be Someplace", "It’s Not a Question" and "Myon Cohen, America’s Funniest". Note the latter is also available as the CD "Such a Pleasure". Two books: "Laughing Out Loud" and "More Laughing Out Loud" - check out the used book sites. As for videos: beware that the 1985 "When Nature Calls" has him spoofing himself for all of 20 seconds - but it’s better than nuthin’!

In reply to this question: I just found a stack of Myron’s 78s on what appear to be a Jewish "specialty" labe. Are these rare and/or valuable? NTX 3/2/2002 2:15:13 AM - 209.196.100.41 I had the same question. My son, an avid and experienced record collector informs me: Rare and valuable are things that: 1-The artist has a mystique about them in the music world. 2-Distribution of the record was not by a smallish company possibly limited to a small geographic area. 3-The record is in great condition (unlikely given that some of these records are 80 yrs old). 4-The artist was not popular or successfull while they were alive, but is now. Any 3 of the 4 and you’re in business: Example: Charley Patton, blues singer - his 78s go for $500 - $2000 now. Less extreme - Charlie Parker - $20-25 each.

I am glad to know that so many people remember Myron Cohen. I guess he died years ago, but I never saw an obituary, and I still miss him. My husband and I often quote the punchlines to our favorite Myron Cohen jokes, "Yes, but don’t the suit fit nice" and "Everybody’s got to be someplace." My Dad, who worked for more than 50 years, primarily in sales, in the garment and textile industries, was one of his biggest fans, partly because Myron Cohen also worked for years as a salesman in the garment industry, until friends urged him to go into show business. I’d love to have a Myron Cohen video too.

Sometime in the late 70’s, HBO broadcast a show featuring Myron Cohen. I would like to see if HBO still has the tape and would consider running it again. He was one on the funniest comedians I’ve ever seen. Jim Ehlinger

Does anyone have, or know if there is, a decent biography of Myron Cohen? Is his Americana Hotel performance in New York available on CD?

I remember when Myron did four nights at the Howard Johnson’s down by the interstate. He had the place in stitches, and ate his weight in Rocky Road ice cream

Even as child watching the Ed Sullivan show I could not wait for Myron to take the stage. I would laugh my head off. You know what, you dont have to be blue to be funny. On the other side of the coin, my favorite comic is the genius George Carlin
