If you’ve ever literally been given ‘the finger’ this bloody comedy is for you. Blood, guts and occasionally dog fur are exchanged freely by the not so beautiful creatures in this blackest of black comedies. The only truly beautiful element is a winning performance by the 1960’s looking Rachel Weisz, who seems to have been transported right out of Georgie Girl for this role. There were a few good belly laughs amidst the violence, but not enough to keep this reviewer from gagging on his Raisinettes. In one scene, one of the several heroin addicts, played by Susan Lynch is spotted on a bridge by a policeman who asks her not to jump, but to go home and take an overdose instead. Woman are beaten, dogs are dyed, lust erupts; there’s something for everyone in this wacky romp through Glasgow, Scotland. Alex Norton, as sort of a cross between Inspector Clouseau and Ron Jeremy steals every scene as a money hungry cop. I’m not sure why I liked this film, but I did. And I’m not just saying that so Rachel Weisz will personally call and thank me. (555)-773-9012
